Shringarika was born from two lifelong passions - medicine and Indian textiles. One taught me precision. The other has shaped my life for as long as I can remember. After moving to the UK, I realised that Indian women deserved better access to beautiful occasion wear, without having to wait for their next trip to India. Shringarika brings together a lifetime of textile knowledge with a practical solution to a problem I saw every day.

I don't remember a time when textiles weren't part of my life
My maternal grandfather was a textile merchant. My mother and aunt are fashion designers, and my maternal uncle runs his own menswear brand. Textiles weren't something I discovered later in life - they were simply part of my everyday conversation.
Growing up, my mother's boutique and workshop became my second home. I spent countless hours around fabrics, tailors, masterjis and karigars, quietly absorbing conversations most children would never even think tolisten to. Without realising it, I was learning how different fabrics behaved, how garments were constructed, why one embroidery technique worked better than another, and how the smallest details could completely change an outfit.
By the time I was twelve, I could recognise silk, chiffon, georgette and different weights of crepe by touch, and I understood how each fabric would dye, drape and move. Looking back, I wasn't consciously studying fashion - I was simply growing up inside it.
That foundation never left me - even after I became a surgeon.

I don't believe in filling racks with hundreds of variations of the same design or stocking garments simply because they're trending. Most of the pieces I bring to Shringarika are produced in very limited numbers and are rarely restocked, so the outfit you fall in love with is likely to remain just as special long after you take it home.
I want every woman to walk into a celebration feeling like she's wearing something that reflects her personality - not wondering if she'll find three other people wearing the same outfit. Every outfit should feel as memorable as the occasion itself.
